Happiness

Health, Wealth, and Love

What is happiness? The dictionary defines it as "a state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy."

Like many dictionary definitions, this may be accurate, but needs to be more specific to be of practical use. How do you experience this "state of well-being?"

Are You Hooked On Love?

When youre in love your eyes and your face light up. And so do four tiny portions of your brain. Falling in love is a brain condition!

Neurobiologists Andreas Bartels and Semir Zeki of University College in London used fMRI brain scans to peer into the brains of college students in the throes of that crazed, can't-think-of-anything-else stage of early romantic love.

When the subjects were shown photographs of their sweethearts, the fMRI images showed that four parts of their brains lit up.

Choosing Happiness

Did you know that its up to you?

Its actually your choice.

You can choose to be happy instead of waiting around for it
to suddenly appear out of nowhere one day and land in your
lap. Happiness is called upon and cultivated.

Looking In The Eyes Of Happiness

From what you see around you in your daily lives, happiness may appear an illusory state of existence. Do you see true happiness in the lives of those who pass through your world each day? Do you see, and feel, true happiness in your own life, and the lives of your immediate family? Or in your work colleagues, or fellow commuters?

The answer, in many cases, will be no, I dont. Why is that? Is it because so many people have so many reasons to be unhappy? Or is it, maybe, because they fail to see what in their lives should be a reason for happiness?

Maybe Money CAN Buy Happiness

Can money buy happiness? It's easy to say no, and probably correct, but that's just a way to stop thinking about the tougher issues. What is your relationship to money, for example, and how do you use this most powerful of worldly tools?

Maybe you see that chasing after money for its own sake is destructive, but isn't it equally damaging to have such a powerful instrument in your hands while pretending it has no importance?

Money Is Important

You...Your Emotions...Your Relations...Your Happiness and Your Life...

We are living in an era, where relations management is at its low. If the IT or ITES/BPO industry is promoting relations among the employeesthe short duration of relations is also a gift of it. There are numerous cases of divorces, I have witnessed in last couple of years, wherein couples decided to separate within one year of marriage. Why so???

Happiness - Work Now or Later?

Long-term success and happiness follows hand-in-hand with
strength of character.

As I mention in my book, Fast Track Your Success and Happiness, If we want to achieve a certain goal, we simply must do things that are less pleasant now than other alternatives have the potential to be. For example, if John wants to get a degree, he has to study for his exams, and not bliss out at the beach.

Living a Balanced Life - The Real Juggling Act

I just read an installment from another self-improvement
course that states that celebrities are unhappy because they
dont have gratitude for what they have. I disagree.

Have you ever had a time when you were making a good
living, lived in a nice place, drove a nice car, took trips, had
everything you needed and more and yet you were still
unhappy?

Love, Uncles, and Etymology

Thwack! . . . Thwack! . . . Thwack! Steven Arthur Mills slapped the marble desk in front of Roseville High Schools science class with a yardstick. All eyes suddenly fastened on him. He sensed that we were getting bored with learning, and he wasnt about to let that happen.

Black-framed glasses highlighted my uncles hearty face. Wispy white hair topped his head. He was mild-mannered and excessively polite, but when teaching, he was a wild-eyed scientist, a natural showman, who taught in dramatic fashion with experiments, explosions, and flair.
